NOT FAR FROM ATHENS

Interesting places to visit (few out of very many) just a few hours from Athens.

You may also be tempted to spend a night thre e.g. in Nafplio or Meteora.

METEORA (4h from Athens)

A unique site. Amazing rock formations and monasteries. You may decide to spend a night in the nearby village Kastraki, and drive back to Athens via Delphi. The trip can also be made the other way round.

DELPHI (2h 30min from Athens)

It is a magic place. If possible, be there early in the morning, when the crowds haven't arrived yet.

NAFPLION (2h from Athens)

A beautiful sea-side town, worth spending a night there. Small good hotels, good food and interesting sites. Very near Mycenae and Epidaurus.

The famous ancient theatre. Can be visited with Mycenae and Nafplion (possible overnight). Take the opportunity to visit Skouras winery.

MYCENAE (1h 40min from Athens)

A "must visit" archaeological site. The fortified ciity that has been the centre of the Mycaenian cicvilization. Can be visited with Epidaurus and Nafplion (possible overnight). Take the opportunity to visit Skouras winery.
