Lindos can get very hot and crowded. It is a very popular tourist destination and (officially) the warmest place in Greece.

However, if you pick the right hours, park at the right spot and do things that suit the time you are there, it is a beautiful place.  Even just walking in the narrow streets of the village is lovely (when not too hot and crowded).

Go to the ACROPOLISthe CHURCH of Holy Mary and St. PAUL'S BAY.

You can start from St.Paul's Bay for a swim, a drink and a snack, or just to have a look and make some photos. Depending on the time and the season, this can be done before or after your visit to the village and the Acropolis.

Don't miss the Acropolis: it is a "must go to" place. If you are too tired to walk up the hill (approx. 15 min), you can ride a donkey to take you there.

Busiest days and hours: WEDNESDAY & SATURDAY 09:00-14:00 (too many cruise ships' passengers).

FOR A GREAT EXPERIENCE:

  • From JUNE 1 until SEPTEMBER 30 visit the village after 14:00. There are plenty of things to do and places to go to before that and still have enough time to see everything in Lindos. The church can be visited until 15:00 and you can enter the Acropolis until 19:30. It is a steep walk uphill and needs to be done last.

  • During the same time of the year, after your see the village and the Acropolis, it is a good idea to have dinner in Lindos. Make sure you go to a restaurant with a view of the sunset and the gulf of Lindos. Remember: you will have to drive for 1 hour back to the hotel.

  • BEFORE MAY 31 and AFTER OCTOBER 1 it is better to visit Lindos as early in the morning as possible. Remember that you may have a lot things to do and many places to visit after Lindos. After October 15, THE ACROPOLIS CAN ONLY BE VISITED UNTIL 17:00.

DRIVING

It is a 45km or 50min drive, if you go straight from Rhodes town to Lindos. Longer, more interesting routes can be used, depending on the season and your schedule.

BEST CHOICE FOR PARKING: Drive to and park near St. Paul's Bay. It will save you time and energy. Easy Go GPS is programmed to take you there.

This is how it is done: When you reach the bay, turn left. The short uphill road next to the bay takes you to a PARKING AREA, where from you can walk to the village & the Acropolis.

Without having to move your car you can also walk to the least busy part of St' Paul's Bay and a small restaurant.
